This architect-designed building was originally built in 1994 with self-sufficiency design principles in mind and has the benefit of a large independent solar-panel (funded by the Queensland Department of Mines and Energy) that made it the largest solar-powered house in Australia and the largest privately-owned renewable energy system in Queensland. This building has been designed and orientated to take advantage of the sun throughout the year with concrete slab floors capturing heat from the winter sun which enters at different points around the building and radiates it through the house during the evening.
An additional key factor in the building’s energy efficiency is the design of the thermal walls (all fully rendered cement-filled besser blocks) and the use of heavy insulation in the top floor ceilings.
The building is self- sufficient in water with adequate rainwater storage tanks and a back-up onsite bore.
If you want a perfect lifestyle here it is.
